Parades on land and sea, the play “Miracle on 34th Street,” an outdoor showing of Jim Carrey as the Grinch, a tunnel of lights at Daytona International Speedway and multiple appearances by Santa highlight the holiday season. Drive through a “sparkling path” of holiday lights and “digital animations” from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm nightly.

Community actors present the classic tale of the Macy’s Santa Claus who keeps the wonder, imagination and spirit of Christmas alive for a young girl.

Flagler Avenue will be closed to traffic so people can meander easily from business to business amid the holiday lights and décor Santa will be on hand for free selfies. Event includes The Great Homemade Christmas Cookie Challenge (4:00 pm to 8:00 pm) and the Santa Paws Pooch Parade at 6:00 pm. Presented by the Flagler Avenue Business Association.

Cost: Free except $15 for Cookie Challenge and $5 to participate in Pooch Parade, if not sold out.

Dec. 5 – 23 New Smyrna Beach Leisure Services “12 Days of Christmas”

The city’s Department of Leisure Services has planned twelve events leading to Christmas. For details, see this video and the poster on Facebook. This calendar also contains entries for the events.

Dec. 6 | 3 pm – 6 pm | New Smyrna Beach Christmas Parade

The parade starts at the parking lot where S. Atlantic Avenue meets Flagler Ave. at the beach. The route runs west on Flagler, across the North Causeway, turns south on Riverside Drive and then west on Canal Street to Orange Street. Good viewing is available along the entire route. Approximately 90 floats will compete under the theme of “A Christmas Wish.”

Dec. 13 | 6 pm – 9 pm | Southeast Volusia County Holiday Boat Parade

Lighted boats gather south of Menard-May Park in Edgewater and parade north through New Smyrna Beach in this event hosted by the Anglers Yacht Club. The route takes the boats by River Deck Tiki Bar & Restaurant, Outriggers Tiki Bar & Grille, and the Grille at Riverview. Fifty boats are expected to compete in front of the judges at Riverside Park for $2,500 in cash prizes.

The realty community celebrates the close of a “fantastic year” with a Roaring ‘20s-inspired dinner party of hors d’oeuvres, chef-tended stations, desserts and live music by The Click. The party continues with a D.J. and dancing.

Find a Finn and bring it to the Babe James Community Center to receive a special gift.
